Status Unknown (Last update: 13.07.2018) Description History of Dead Air
The first Dead Air took place in 2019 in Berlin after it became compulsory to regularly consume Fruit as part of your daily life. Fruit was conceived and sold to the consumer as a product which would enhance their natural functions and elevate them from sleep, consuming Fruit took approximately 5 minutes and assured the same energy, nutrients, and cognitive care as a full-eight-hour sleep. After the first trail it became known that repeated use of Fruit eliminated sleep from the human body, and left the body in a state of energy-driven insomnia. There has been no adverse side effects beyond the human body never needing to sleep. This has in turn eliminated dream time for all, and only an exceptional few have still maintained the art of daydreaming.
As a direct effect of this new physical status a group of Left wing radicals started up the first Dead Air parties in an old Nail Salon in Berlin. It later spread to Zurich, London, New York and Moscow, the parties lasted for 72-hours and each guest would stay off Fruit and use various tools and mechanics to enable a lucid state. Due to their heavy consumption of Fruit it was rare that anyone would fall into true sleep, but they would move between the two states of Fruit and Sleep in a delicate euphoria. The parties often had a 72-hour sound component and generally omitted the use of chemical substances including alcohol to assure a smooth transition into the collective dreamscape.
Dreaming became a peer-to-peer past time within Left-wing radicals, creative types and bourgeois dropouts seeking enlightenment. The name Dead Air refers to a time and space in which capitalism cannot function nor can it profit from the dreamers as they are in fact performing a Human Strike against the machine.
Naturally, Dead Air has also been infiltrated over the years by undercover police, start-up cells, and competitors but the authentic experience of this specific collection of people has never quite been replicated successfully. In the later years, it has been said that a subgroup has started to raise Egregores* within the Dead Air sphere, using collective local bodies to provide a mesh network for leftist thought forms and dream anarchy — nobody can confirm or deny this practice in the Dead Air community. Their only response is “We feel more comfort with demons than angels”.
*Egregore (also egregor) is an occult concept representing a «thoughtform» or «collective group mind», an autonomous psychic entity made up of, and influencing, the thoughts of a group of people.
